Mistakes are human. There’s no hope in trying to be perfect. What matters is what you do after your realize something isn’t right. If you learn from what went wrong and grow from the experience, that’s what counts. But if you ignore the facts and dig your head in the sand in an act of willful ignorance, then you’re doomed to repeat the same scenario over again. Or, if you hold on too tightly to shame and blame and rehash the mishap in your mind, then you won’t give yourself the necessary forgiveness it takes to move on. Some people feel like they have to hold onto the blame in order to pay a penance. Others are hesitant to let go of the shame they feel around mistakes because they think that it’s the shame that will prevent them from repeating the past. But that couldn’t be further from the truth. Shame is a cycle that actually ties you to the past. In order to to break the cycle, you need to fail up, to let the experience of the past teach you how to live better. The way forward is with equal parts wisdom and forgiveness. There are no quick fixes to the journey of spiritual learning in life. There is only the slow, steady unfolding of the spirit. It’s not about getting it right the first time, or even the first thousand times. It’s about letting every single experience open your heart. _ Day 6 #30dayyogajourney is Ustrasana with @mariebellepr on @omstarsofficial We are getting close to reaching our goal of raising $15,000 for a good cause, but we need your help.
