I sat for hours, naked on the beach and dreamt of being free. I closed my eyes and wanted never to be found again, but there you were searching for me, in places where I couldn’t escape. I kissed the ocean, tasted the salt on my lips, and in my hips, the residue on my skin like freshly formed sand falling through my fingertips. There was a story I was just beginning to write, One that would be told, Not in words, but in movements of body and soul, harmonics in the spirit casting away shadows in the noonday sky. There was a hint of who I would become in every rolling wave, in each gentle breeze, Like how a bud contains the full potential of flowering and yet somehow guards its secrets, Or how the sky paints the pre-dawn hour with pastels that portend the explosion of the light, In full force crescendo wiping out the starry night, But there, before it all starts, Just a glimmer, an intimation. You saw it before I did, The promise of who I would become, and it drew you in with the power of a magic spell, With the seduction of an unsolved mystery, Or did you? I like to think you did, That the hungry look in your eye spoke more to the yearning of unvanquished innocence than to anything else. Or, maybe I always knew who I was meant to be, And it’s just taken me all these years to remember. _ #tbt to another world, another time. The year is 2002, when I’d only been to India once. It was the beginning of my yoga journey. I shaved my head about a year before this picture was taken and now it was growing out. The beach is still my favorite place. In some ways I’m still the same girl on a quest, searching not to be found, but for the joy that is to be revealed on the path itself. My world has changed since then, by those changes have come not from transforming my core, but from finally letting it shine through. I sat for hours, naked on the beach and dreamt of being free.
I closed my eyes and wanted never to be found again, but there you were searching for me, in places where I couldn’t escape.
I kissed the ocean, tasted the salt on my lips, and in my hips,
the residue on my skin like freshly formed sand falling through my fingertips.
There was a story I was just beginning to write,
One that would be told,
Not in words,

There was a hint of who I would become in every rolling wave, in each gentle breeze,
Like how a bud contains the full potential of flowering and yet somehow guards its secrets,
Or how the sky paints the pre-dawn hour with pastels that portend the explosion of the light,
In full force crescendo wiping out the starry night,
But there, before it all starts,
Just a glimmer, an intimation.
You saw it before I did,
The promise of who I would become, and it drew you in with the power of a magic spell,
With the seduction of an unsolved mystery,

Or, maybe I always knew who I was meant to be,
And it’s just taken me all these years to remember.
