If there’s one thing that’s constant in my life it’s change. I am not the same person I was yesterday, last year or ten years ago. Sometimes I meet people who were a part of my past but aren’t a part of my present. It’s interesting to see the old view that they have of me, fixed on a past timeline. They expect me to fit into that old box. What’s hardest is when people carry the wounds of the past into a space where you have moved on, learned your lesson and feel like a different person. The mirror image of the mistakes of the past isn’t always pretty to see. But, it’s liberating to see how far you’ve come. _ I haven’t walked the path of life without mistakes. There are many people whose feelings I’ve hurt, actions I’ve taken that haven’t been ideal. But, what I can say for certain is that I’ve done my best to learn along the way. If there is one thing that speaks freedom to me it is being free not to repeat that same old mistakes of the past. _ I can’t win anyone over whose forgiveness isn’t given of the heart. I can’t force anyone into a recognition of where I am now. I only have control over the sphere of influence in my own mind. I can forgive myself while holding steady to the learning curve of life. I can recognize how far I’ve come, especially when I stand face them face with a window from my past. _ There are a thousand things that I wouldn’t have written into the story of my life’s but none that I regret. Each every experience has made me who I am. All the wisdom in my mind and all the love in my heart is born from the highs and lows of the roller coaster ride I’ve been on. It isn’t the easy parts that have me grow. To the contrary, it’s the hard bit, the gut-wrenching moments that felt like a hostage crisis, the mind-boggling times of delusion, the stumbles, the falls—these have been my greatest teachers. _ I learned in the yoga practice that it’s not about how many times you fall, but what piece of wisdom you pick up along the way. Fall ten thousand times and gain humility, courage, perseverance and love. That’s yoga that’s me. _ #practiceyogachangeyourworld #onebreathatatime Photo @ifilmyoga ?
