Democracy has prevailed and been preserved despite attempts to destroy it through lies and violence! . For the last four years I’ve felt a bit hostile towards my own country because of the way it was run, and who was running it. Remember that meme “If he wins I’m leaving the country”? Well I actually did that! I also got a lot of 💩for continuing to voice my political opinions, BUT also helped a lot of travelers figure out how to vote abroad, so worth it in the end! . My faith has been restored and finally I don’t feel cringey anxiety about what’s going to happen in the US! . Today we made history with the first female Vice President AND woman of color VP!!! We fought peacefully, turned up or mailed in to vote, and took back the country from evil hands! . The new prez gives hope of unity, equality, peace, and safety, and I can’t wait to see what wonderful things he and Madam VP do! . If you missed the inauguration this morning, I documented the entire thing on my Stories! . Some of the top highlights aside from the swearing in was Lady Gaga’s majestic singing of the National Anthem and Amanda Gorman’s heart-touching inaugural poem! ...and JLo shamelessly adding in “Let’s get loud” to This Land is Your Land 😂 .
