So this is for my single traveling ladies who wonder why they haven’t found a man to travel with yet, or who wants a relationship, and everyone who constantly asks us if it’s hard having a relationship! The answer is YES, but it’s usually because of how the guy feels about being in one with a woman who travels! These responses were pretty much mutual among most of the guys but in short the reasons are: 1. It’s expensive. Most couples go on trips a couple times per year (if that)…but a woman who travels probably goes once a month. So either her man has to afford to go too, or she’ll likely go without him, which corresponds to the other answers. 2. It’s a power thing. I remember when I was young and brainwashed by society, thinking if I were to ever travel, it would be with my bf/husband, and he would whisk me away somewhere. Many guys still have this mentality, that they’re the ones who should be taking the woman on a trip, as if she couldn’t go without him making it possible. So you can probably imagine how not appealing a woman who is constantly taking herself on trips is for them. Even with the men who do travel often, they said they prefer to be the ones in charge of where they go rather than where she wants to go! 3. Trust issues. This is usually a big one in my personal relationships, and I take it as a compliment, because the top worry is I’ll meet someone else and leave them. And the truth is that if they’re not treating me right, I would 100% book a flight and do just that! So perhaps it puts extra pressure on men to be prince charming, or on the contrary, causes them to get jealous and controlling (cough, my ex). My advice for the traveling ladies is not to settle or limit your travels just because there aren’t a ton of men who can handle it. The right person who truly loves you will figure out how to make it work! And to the men who think it’s hard to date women who travel, you’re right. It is!
