Every ray of sunshine is a blessing if you let it penetrate your soul. But how many times have you walked right by the shining sun and just treated it as ordinary? It’s the extraordinariness of ordinary moments that unlocks the keys to lasting happiness.

A day like this at the beach feels epic. It’s not every day that the sun, the waves, the air and everything feels so divine. And when they do, I am smiling with every cell of my body.

What in your life today is your joy? What beauty do you see when you look out at the world?

You see, we can train the mind to see beauty, or, with the same gaze, to see hate. Sometimes it’s hard to see the good when things feel so bad. I feel it too now. It’s hard to find peace amidst so much injustice, division, fear and polarization. But I promise that there is always at least one thing in every day that has the potential to bring you a small bit of peace, happiness and love. It could be a flower, a hug from a friend, a bird flying above, nature, or something else. Look for the good and let it call your own goodness forward. There is a sign in your life today that will speak to you of hope, faith and of love. Look for it.

And remember, just because you see a sign of hope doesn’t mean that’s all there is to life. That would be a spiritual bypass. Don’t ignore what needs attending to. Don’t gloss over real problems. That is like thinking that positive thinking can put out a fire. It’s delusional. But, you can handle what needs handling and get things done while being happy and joyful. You don’t need to hate the world to change it.
