It took seven years of trying and failing before I managed to press up to handstand. I wouldn’t trade one step of the journey because I learned so much along the way.

So many people get so frustrated because they can’t do something from the first try. I see the look of devastation when new students realize that yoga is really hard and that it’s not easy for them. I share my story so that everyone who fees like it will be impossible for them can faith. If it was possible for me to go from zero strength to handstand press, you can do it too. But, I can’t say that it will be easy. No, I have to tell you the truth, that you’ll have to work hard, that some days you’ll feel like quitting, that you’ll get frustrated, jealous, irritated and annoyed. And if you keep practicing, you’ll love through all that and find your true power. Maybe you’ll get that illusive handstand press, and maybe not. I can absolutely promise you that you’ll grow as a person with each step of the way.

20 years later I’m a happier, kinder person than I was when I started. There is more peace and love in my life today than there was before. I’ve struggled, stumbled and fallen, sometimes grandly and publicly. But I learned how to pick myself back up and try agin, and again, and again. 10,000 tries later I found out what true strength means.
