We all worship something. Whatever you devote the most attention to is what you place on the highest altar. The choice between liberation and bondage comes when you choose what to worship. It’s in human nature to search for meaning. Without training the mind will focus on whatever it thinks will bring the most pleasure. Unfortunately without conscious awareness and mindful training, we often end up worshipping the false idols of ego, power, fame, money, materialism. It can be more subtle than it seems. If you spend your day thinking jealous craving thoughts, that’s what you worship. If you find yourself lapsing into hate and animosity, that’s your temple. What you think constantly about is your greatest form of worship. When my teacher used to say, do you practice, think about God, he was training us in the deepest form of worship possible—the faculty of attention. The deepest potential of yoga is to bring the mind, body and soul into unified focus on the deepest and highest truth. It takes unwavering focus to worship the Divine and hear the quiet voice of wisdom in your heart. All the poses are a means to an end, not an end in and of themselves. Don’t worship asana or else it too becomes a false god. Practice is prayer, the breath is its own poetry and the body is a temple of realization. _ Day 25 #30dayyogajourney is Prasarita Padottanasana with @michelle.thielen on @omstarsofficial You can still join!!
