I’m grateful for every time I tried to lift up and failed. There were so many times that I pushed with everything I had only to get no result. In fact there still are so many moments in the practice where I struggle to be stronger. I guess I’m a slow learner. I see newer, younger students becoming proficient in poses that took me years to get. While I’m happy for them, I am also happy for my struggle. You see, it’s my colossal failures in yoga and also in life where I have learned the most. _ I mean, I’m not saying that I don’t like to get things right. Lord knows if I had any control over things I would not volunteer to mess anything up. It’s easy to feel good about yourself and your life when everything is going your way. But that feels more like self-congratulation than self-love. So, what about when you fail or when things go wrong? _ Do not think that by projecting and visualizing a perfect life nothing will ever go wrong again or that you will always succeed or that you’ll be immune to the lows. Visualize and move as much into ease, flow and grace as possible. Yes for sure. But don’t expect to never for one moment slide out of that state (unless you’re enlightened and living in Samadhi). _ What’s the purpose of doing a handstand, a powerful lift up, or your yoga practice if it doesn’t lead you into being a better person?
