A: We often promote the Instagram account on other social media channels – Facebook and Twitter especially. We use hashtag campaigns to keep users engaged – #BConBreak was a recent hashtag for students to share their travels and experiences on spring break. The most successful, by far, has been #BC360. Our team of BC Social Fellows started using that hashtag at the beginning of the year to show the work they were doing and it has organically become popular among other students to share artful, high quality images. ________________________________________Q: What motivated your choice to join Iconosquare? A: We’re always looking for tools to improve our understanding and measurement of social media. Iconosquare was especially helpful in providing a context to our success on Instagram. The Boston College account achieved a growth level that was unprecedented, and having some data to explain that in relation to other popular accounts was invaluable. ________________________________________Q: When posting a media, what is your Like/Comment threshold that makes it acceptable? A: It varies, but we aim for the 2,000 range for likes, 30 or more comments with each post. We’ve really raised our expectations because of the engagement level we have reached this year.
