Why did you choose to join Instagram? Answer: By that time, it was clear that Instagram was emerging as a mainstream social media platform and was being used by a significant number of people. We always feel that we need to have a presence wherever our fans are. With the large amount of time people were spending on Instagram, we saw it as a new way to engage our fans in a unique way — giving them glimpses of behind-the-scenes moments on gamedays as well as the day-to-day around our facility — something we were not consistently providing across other mediums. ________________________________________Q: How relevant is Instagram for a sports team like yours? A: We have a lot of stories to tell and go beyond just our 20 games each season. Whether it’s action from the game, a community event that our players are participating in, warm-ups, practice, signing new players, our passionate fans, or showing an off-the-field side of the players — all of those things are stories that can be told through images on Instagram. ________________________________________Q: How has Instagram helped you more than other social networks, to connect with your consumers? A: Instagram has had an incredible growth rate since it was founded in 2010, which proves that people are drawn to mobile and visual content. We’ve accessed a whole new group of fans since becoming active on the platform.
