This is Valladolid, a cute, colorful city right next to Cenote Suytun (the one with the circular platform I just posted about), that most people only stop in briefly while doing day trips to the Cenote or Chichén Itzá. . But it actually is well known for its gastronomy, for being one of the 121 Pueblos Mágicos in Mexico, and for several other hardly-heard-of Cenotes! . Valladolid actually reminded me a little of some parts of Cuba...which I am extremely excited to say I'll be heading back to for NYE and my bday, and maybe staying for a few weeks to continue with my current slow-travel preference (trying to take less flights right now). . Last time I went to Cuba I retraced the footsteps of my grandparents on my mom's side, and this time I'll include an adventure to Cienfuegos to see where my paternal abuelos are from! . ((Yes Cuba is now open and US citizens can go with approved visas...I will be inviting a small group to come for NYE and a 5-7 day tour, following all safety and health protocols of course, DM if interested!)) . Anyway back to Valladolid! I'd highly recommend staying at least one night here and per usual will have a full blog post for things to do and tips (like the cute $18/night pet friendly hotel we stayed at!) .
