Last night we had the third major storm in only 2 weeks here in Playa del Carmen & Tulum, and this time I didn't have enough time to pack up and run from it! . So little Oscar and I kept calm and I tried to keep both of our anxiety levels low with distractions (didn't even have wine bc they restrict alc sales during hurricane watch!), but tbh it was mentally changing because the wind was so strong that it felt like all my windows and doors were about to shatter open! . Somehow tho my weather guardian sent me two travelers who had gotten denied entry to their hotel in Tulum (it was too dangerous to pass at the time they got there), so I had company, AND they had wine!! Win-Win situation! (She's also on my India group trip next year!!) . Although I barely slept and my glass balcony wall shattered, I definitely expected a lot more damage, and am grateful it wasn't worse! (Actually the only thing I consider worse than this hurricane is the expedited selection of a certain woman to help sway a certain thing happening in 9 days.) . Kind of like how I'm grateful when I was in the bat-filled Cenote and the lights shut off, that we had stopped to get flashlights just before going there...otherwise that would DEFINITELY have been A LOT worse!!! .
