Drove 2 hours and stayed the night in Valladolid to be the first ones there when it opened at 9am, and we were! BUT! . Turns out the platform was 20 feet under water (yet still so clear that you can see it perfectly), and it's only above water during certain months of the year! They said it will be under water until next year! . They also informed me that the beam of light you see in the viral photos from here is usually seen in June, so save this post if you want to remember all this!! . Regardless of my photo-dreams being squished, Cenote Suytun was still very cool to see, and unlike many of the other Cenotes I've seen! Plus it was only $7 so I wasn't that upset (most of the popular ones near Tulum and Playa are $15-30!). . Best of all though was discovering how adorable Valladolid is! Every building is a different bright color, and the architecture is colonial! Definitely worth staying a night or two! Especially since a decent hotel is only around $20! .
