The beginning and the end. Alpha and omega. Inhale and exhale. Sunrise and sunset. Life and death. Light and dark. Infinite and finite. Eternal and temporal. Pleasure and pain. Effort and surrender. Birth and death. Fear and faith. Freedom and bondage. Attachment and aversion. Happiness and depression. _ The opposing forces of life exist in dynamic equilibrium. Mastery of yoga does not mean that you will never experience pain, sadness, struggle or any of the other things you might label as “bad”. Instead yoga means that you will no longer be bothered by the inevitable swing between the opposing forces of life. In fact, the lesson of the breath may be just that, the perfect balance between inhale and exhale as the tides of life, rolling in and out of your awareness. If you hold on to either you’ll be fighting a pointless battle. Instead yoga teaches you to find peace in the ebb and flow of life. _ This is a lesson I return to again and again. Some days I feel I’m vibrant and full and other days I feel broken and beaten down by this world. There are peak moments where I’ve felt like I was flying and dark lows that seemed to swallow me. I’ve tried to swim upstream to bend the world to my desire only to lose ground and I’ve let go into the flow and experienced great speed and miracles. It’s life. The only constant in the material world is change. Love is eternal but love belongs to the realm of spirit. Love is expressed in each moment we choose peace as a response to the inevitable vicissitudes of life. _ #practiceyogachangeyourworld #onebreathatatime Sunset over Ulluwatu Beach in Bali @prasanabyarjaniresorts @theasia.collective ?
