When I first started yoga I could not touch my toes. So many people assume that I was born this way. The truth is that while flexibility happens much faster tor me than strength, I’ve had to work for both. _ Sometimes I see people who are just starting yoga and they are so naturally good at the poses, it’s like their bodies just seem to know exactly what to do. Or other people who just get it so quickly. I’ve never been like that. What can I say? I’m a slow learner. It’s taken me over 20 years to get to where I am and I still feel like I have so much to learn. How about you? _ The answer is always within. Forward bends are a journey to the center of yourself, a turning of mind to the subtle realm of the inner body. While you may find yourself folding more deeply forward after many years of practice, be careful about judging your progress on physical standards. Root your experience of the practice in the quiet space of contemplation and you will meet the true self, the true light of the eternal.
