Last night at 6:45 PM, our outside cat Cleo staggered up to Tim as he was taking out the trash. We hadn’t seen her in a few days. While we were starting to get worried she had disappeared once before for a few days only to reappear again. Just a few hours earlier I saw a cat Cleo hangs out with sometimes and I told him to get Cleo. And he sure did.

But then there she was, emaciated, unable to stand, refusing food and making the saddest meow I’ve ever heard. So we rushed her to the only vet open at 7 pm on Miami Beach for a cat emergency. They took x-rays, did blood work and kept her overnight. She was negative for feline HIV and leukemia, but tested high for liver disease possibly caused by a parasite. Her liver was three times its normal size!

We went to the vet today for an update and I was bracing myself for the worst. I kept hearing them say, “we did all we could”. I almost didn’t want to call BC I was afraid I couldn’t handle the bad news. I had already cried at the vet last night. But, the good news is that she’s doing better. While by no means is she better the doctor says she is responding well to the medicine. She will need a shot every day for seven days to treat what they think is a liver fluke and then we will have to see what happens.

Miss Cleo was meowing and eating a little but mostly just resting and enjoying cuddles when we went to see her. I cannot tell you how relieved I am that she’s doing better. I was thinking that there is a limit to how much death and disaster a person can be expected to deal with all in one period. I am so grateful that at least for today Miss Cleo is ok. Please pray for her. She’s got a long road back to health ahead ?

And our @omstarsofficial servers were overloaded today due to an unprecedented viewership! You broke the internet and I love you for it. ? Thanks for your patience as we adjust to the growing pains and get online.
