I got a request from a husband who wanted to surprise his wife with a private lesson with me over four years ago. While I rarely say yes to private lessons, something in me said yes to this one. Our yoga center wasn’t available so I had to invite them to my house. And, although the wife only wanted to learn how to handstand, I spent the two hours teaching her how to jump back. I guess that’s my personality. I didn’t think much more about them, although I hoped that she would really practice and learn to jump back.

Then, almost a year later, I was lying in bed in Mysore with a flu. I was too weak to do any work and too tired to read. So, what was left? Instagram! I was scrolling through my phone and got tired of looking at Labradors and decided to search #yoga and oh my goodness, what I saw! I had no idea what a yoga challenge was or that there was a growing community of yogis online. I only used IG to post flower pics. And then I saw this beautiful handstand set on the beach in Florida under the @beachyogagirl account! I had to know—who was this awesome woman on the beach near my hometown? I decided to send an email. And not only did she write back, but she told me that she was the woman who I had told to jump back in my own living room.

We started texting and Kerri and I traded secrets, yoga pics for IG tips. And those first texts were how we started becoming friends. Kerri invited me into her world of Instagram yoga challenges and then she couldn’t get rid of me (ask her: she actually tried to get rid of me at some moment!). Kerri is my angel—she’s funny, she loves handstands, she loves clothes and style, but more than anything her heart is pure.

When the idea of a yoga TV channel came up I knew I only wanted to build it if Kerri was my partner. We've been through ups and downs, hit roadblocks and obstacles, but all along the way we have been sisters in yoga. And now with just over 24 hours left until our @omstarsofficial kickstarter is over, we are so close to our dreams. When I sent a text to an inspiring IG yogi I had no idea we would embark upon the biggest journey of our lives together!
