You can't please everyone, nor should you try. Just be yourself with a firm connection to your authentic self. Keep a little space to let the good and the bad in so that you can see clearly and not delude yourself by only listening to the positive feedback. In the face of negative criticism what I do is pause, listen and see if I can take it in as constructive. If it's just mean spirited name calling I simply ignore it and don't respond. But if there is something to be learned i do my best to take it in. Here's an example I've been wanting to share for awhile: there was a student in Chicago this year that asked me to sign a book as my host was rushing me out the door. Normally I would wait until all students were finished but my hosts had asked me to hurry and get going so I asked the student if she was coming the next day. If she had said no I would have asked my host to wait but when she said yes I asked if I we could do it the next day. I was rushed and it must have came off poorly because she was very upset and left a long negative note in the feedback form for the workshop. First, I want to say I'm sorry because I love to sign my books and DVDs and I hate it if the manner of my speech is not kind. It makes me so happy that someone is reading my words or watching my DVDs to inspire their practice. Second, from that negative feedback I have now asked my hosts to give a dedicated time each workshop for book and DVD signing to make it clear for everyone when there is time for that. In that time, I never rush, I stay until the last student is done. So thank you for sharing your negative feedback, it has made me a better person. ? Be strong enough to see clearly, the good and the bad. Don't just please everyone, please yourself by being your best self. Even if you do everything right there will still be people who find fault. Don't let the nay-Sayers get you down. Follow your truth, but remember what really matters is if you're a good person at the end of the day. To be humble, to be kind, to love more, to share peace and joy in the world--this is where the magic is at. ~Photo on my @gopro Outfit @shaktiactivewear
