My nutritional approach starts with 5 core principles:

- Adequacy – consuming enough of each type of food (carbohydrates, fats & protein)
- Balance – creating balanced meals & a well-proportioned macronutrient prescription;
- Calorie control – not too many or too few calories
- Moderation – enjoy your treats but learn how to moderate intake of fat, salt, or sugar
- Variety – promoting optimal health by consuming a broad range of foods (taking care of your micronutrient needs).

Without these things, the food you put into your body will reflect something much less pleasant than the goal you’re trying to reach. It’s all about understanding the body’s chemistry and how it changes with age. Our hormones and our sensitivity to them change through all our life. Our behavior affects our mood, and our mood affects our behavior. If our liver is clogged or our cortisol is too high, it doesn’t matter how much you train and how little you eat! You might just be shutting down your whole system in order to lose 1 or 2 lbs and regain 5 later. 👍

Your favorite foods don’t have to be cheat foods, and there’s no reason to hate everything you eat on a fitness journey. It’s about mindset, and looking forward to the creation of each meal and snack as fuel and energy.

Food isn’t just food, and no fad diet on the market can tell you that. We operate on the side of science, people! 🧪
