I got stuck on a childhood dream of working in health care - but quite honestly I got side tracked by pursuing climbing as a professional athlete and was happy with my side gig as a coach. What’s wild is that I started coaching when I was 17 years old - my first coaching gig was being the Head Coach of a Youth Climbing Team in Atlanta, GA. Then I was the Head Coach at the well known Movement Climbing + Fitness in Boulder, Colorado for 4 years while simultaneously being the first female Youth US Team Coach (all while being a member of the adult US Team). Throughout all of this, I always said, “yea, but I don’t want coaching to be my career.” I eventually worked my ass off to apply to PA school (if you know what it takes to even apply, then you know what I’m talking about - honestly it’s harder than applying for a doctorate program in PT/OT, etc which is a little insane) and I can finally say it was a blessing in disguise that I got waitlisted and never had a seat open up for me. The Universe gave me exactly what has been in front of me all of these years - coaching. It’s perfect for me because I am a great teacher, I get to pass on my knowledge of the sport, AND I get to help you achieve your goals & be better all while fostering community and working hard on making it better than when I arrived. I love it and nothing has ever made me feel more full. 🧡🧡🧡 Whats better is that I am not limited by what I can do with coaching by being employed by a climbing gym...I became an entrepreneur in 2020 - and wow - while it is really fucking hard, it is simultaneously so rewarding. So while this year has been a year to say the least - it also presented me with so many opportunities and I can really say that I AM EXTREMELY PROUD OF MYSELF.
