I hear it all the time too, “oh well that route is soft.” If you’re a person that says this to a person actively projecting a route - ❓why do you feel you need to label that route as soft to that person? What is your mission behind that❓ I feel it is coming from a place of ❗️insecurity ❗️if you say something like this to someone who is ACTIVELY working on that route. Sure, if you want to label it as ‘soft’ or ‘hard’ on a forum or another place where others can use it however they like, go ahead, it's your right. But I challenge you to think about what you’re saying to someone actively working on that route - saying that it’s known to be soft is anything but supportive and perhaps saying nothing at all might be better. ✨While it might be true for YOU, we all know at this point that we all have differing opinions of route grades, what feels hard/soft, and what feels like a good hold or not ✨ While I know that not everybody is going to practice considering how their opinions might affect others in this capacity I’ve chosen to continue to hear YOU - the person who is saying things that really aren’t supporting my efforts. WHY? Mostly because you’re human, too, and you’ve probably not even had something like what I’m discussing brought to your attention before. And if you have, well, then the cat's outta the bag on the fact that while I’m hearing you, I’m definitely not listening to you. 🎈Because there was a time when I would listen to you - and it would send my mind into a state of doubt, somewhat panic mode, and eventually failure.
