Admittedly, I get a bit anxious about both, especially when I haven’t been in the pursuit of either scenarios for whatever reason. Even after 22 years of climbing. When ‘lil Chels’ emerges - the much younger self who feels she has something prove or who wants to perform well to justify the things shes privileged to - I feel caught off guard and the anxiety rises prior to getting on something hard AND prior to sending. At 34 years young 😂 I definitely have more wisdom, peace and acceptance for myself and life in general. Although that’s true, lil chels likes to come out and play... Especially as I am on my journey towards Thanatopsis/climbing 5.14 again. Lil chels doesn’t want to deal with failure - but I know that failure is part of the growing process. Lil chels is also anxious about success - but I know that success is NOT just about accomplishing the goal or clipping the anchors. So really it’s all about balancing the feelings. Accepting the anxiety or headiness is present AND still going forward (assuming all is safe, etc). I felt ultra heady on Power Glide (photo) because lil chels felt like she needed to prove her strengths to justify my wonderful partnership with @adidasterrex and @fiveten_official. Which seems so silly since I was surrounded by a couple of my favorite people (@mgclimber1 and @molly.mitchell). I’ll be diving into learning how to work through mental barriers and the headiness that climbing does elicit in the coming months as part of my launch of my 1:1 climbing coaching (virtual - that’s right! You don’t need to be local to me)! Stay tuned.... Thanks for the beautiful photo @angelajpayne and for capturing a moment of calm in my brain」10月23日 10時05分 - chelseanicholerude

Last week I did a poll asking what you get headier about - sending a project (47%) or the ‘simple’ act of getting on something at your limit (53%).
