To say that we are devastated is an understatement. My best friend, Kris Ugarriza, lost his battle with depression on Wednesday, September 16th. @krisugarriza Many of you may not know that Kris struggled with depression - and I’m sure that’s exactly how he wanted it. He was the king of simply showing up, giving love, and sharing laughter. That’s all he had for any and everyone in his life. Nothing but love. After barely knowing one another, Kris came with me to Vail, Colorado for my shoulder surgery. He helped me feel confident in my upcoming surgery, shared laughs and guaranteed me that he’d be there for me once I got out. I honestly don’t remember much that first night after surgery, but he woke up early to take me to my first PT appointment the following morning. I remember feeling very weird on the drive, only to walk into the PT office and begin puking. This lasted the whole day - but it didn’t make Kris shy away. Instead he posted up with me to watch Game of Thrones and held my hair out of my puke. ❤️That was the beginning of one of the best friendships I’ve ever known. ❤️ All of his closest friends and I have done our best at contacting all of Kris’ friends to give them the tragic news so that nobody would have to find out through social media. But Kris made friends everywhere he went, so I think that is an impossible task, and for that I’m so so so sorry if you’re finding out about his passing in this way.
