This includes BIPOC people too. I’ve noticed in my 22 years of climbing that our sport has large pockets of people who aren’t accepting or welcoming of people who are new to the sport, don’t climb a certain grade or who look differently than the average climber. And in my opinion, this needs to stop. I’ve also been treated like Im not welcome in certain places and I’m a professional climber; that same attitude towards someone newer might make them quit the sport all together. @juliet_amanda speaks on this in one of her posts, too. 🔹create easier accessibility to high level clinics for the above mentioned population. YES there are free clinics and meet ups here and there for climbing specific topics. BUT clinics taught by professionals with decades of experience are often expensive and few and far between. My goal is to create more of these high level clinics with professionals so that we can get solid education around climbing to you. But make them affordable! 🔹 educate the community on disordered eating by providing workshops led by professionals (RDN’s). I find this extremely important since climbing has had an extensive history with disordered eating. This part of @shesends_collective is honoring the late @savvytothemax. Climbing is a sport of privilege - no matter how you twist it so this is my way of giving back, welcoming more to the sport and empowering them. @ladzinski photo @adidas @adidasterrex」9月1日 2時14分 - chelseanicholerude
