Alrighty, buckle up because I’m back on my selfie game, I’ve managed to get my hands (and body) on some baby oil and I’m greasier than a deep dish pizza and I’m about to lay down some FACTS. Let’s talk about fitness shall we, there’s a mix of messages in the fitness industry, opposing opinions and just so much sh*t that it’s so damn confusing to know what you’re actually supposed to do to achieve your goals.

So here’s the reality, there’s no quick fix, no secret pill or tea that’s going to get you there. You need to make health and fitness a lifestyle. In order to achieve particular physique goals you do need to be disciplined with your diet and exercise but what far surpasses this is a love for looking after yourself. If you’re overly strict/restrictive when it comes to your diet or your exercise routine, it’s unlikely to last. When you spend every day counting or obsessing over calories, you may find yourself missing out on the simply joys in life and for most, it’s just not sustainable. The reality is, you need to think about your health and fitness as a long term project. You need to remember that not every day will be perfect and that’s perfectly fine.

I’ve been involved in sport & fitness for most of my life. I don’t see it as a quick fix, a fad or a punishment. In order to achieve your fitness goals, you need to first start by establishing a positive relationship with looking after yourself. You need to change your perception of exercising from being a gruelling task to being an enjoyable activity, something you do - for you.

So start here, start now and start to appreciate the control you have over yourself and your fitness. Don’t get discouraged by the time it will take to achieve the results you’re looking for because that time will pass anyway. You don’t want to look back and wish you had started today. So get started now. The results, the “body goals” etc will naturally come as a result of consistency.

The best part is, the results will remain. You will build a foundation, a lifestyle that you can maintain because it’s not restrictive, it’s not a fad and it’s not quick fix. It’s a lifestyle chocie, a choice you have made to look after you
