This strange looking amphibian is a true burrowing frog @accb_cambodia. Found in Myanmar, Thailand, southern Laos, Cambodia, and southern Vietnam, this species inhabits forested areas where it breeds seasonally in deep rain pools. During breeding season sightings can be quite common, but otherwise this species is extremely elusive, spending most of its time burrowed underground. Currently, the greatest threat to this species is collection during the breeding season for trading at rural markets. Large numbers of true burrowing frogs are purchased for consumption in these markets, which threatens the health of frog populations in the wild. Preventing the collection of these frogs at breeding sites and protecting populations that are established in protected areas should go a long way towards securing a brighter future for this unique creature. #frog #burrowing #burrowingfrog #amphibian #PhotoArk #savetogether
