​Just from glancing at the photo above you can probably guess the name of this shark species - the zebra shark! Unlike a zebra, these sharks don’t keep their stripes for life, but it certainly gives juveniles a distinctive look. The zebra shark’s extra long tail helps it to move gracefully through the ocean, and swim quickly in pursuit of prey. Native to ​the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans, this species has become more rare as the result of both legal and illegal fishing. By choosing to only purchase and consume seafood that is caught in a wildlife-friendly manner you provide an incentive to fisheries, retailers, and restaurants to join in protecting marine species like the zebra shark. bylegtheking i dont get how one the most prestigious science magazines have nothing to say, no critics towards the capitalistic way of producing. i mean obviously we as individual must do and have to do everything we can to help reduce our negative impact in the world but i see the UN and everyone always talking about individualistic ""solutions"" to ""solve"" the destruction of the world, no offense but using metal straws or consuming legal zebra sharks isnt making a dent in the world compared to what the companies do worldwide. there is absolutely no justificacion for us depending on fossil fuels in freaking 2019, there are a milion alternatives but because of their greed they poison the world. how can presidents ""consider"" banning single use plastics, there is absolutely nothing to consider. i we dont do anything agains the companies, the ones responsable for most of the destruccion nothing will change. if they stop producing plastic then we wont be able to consume it. not all the individual actions in the world will stop our extinction if they keep pouring mercury and oil in our water. start shifting the burden to the ones who are the most responsable, we individual will do our part but we have to stop the irrational capitalistic economy to a rationaly planned and socialized economy.
