If you look closely, you’ll notice that this lichen huntsman spider is a lot like the famous Mona Lisa painting - no matter what angle you view it from, this spider always has eyes on you! This guy has no shortage of eyes, with four on the front of its head, two on the top, and two on the back of the head, giving this species 360-degree vision. The lichen spider is native to Sulawesi, Papua New Guinea, the Maluku Islands, and Queensland, Australia. While it prefers rainforest habitats with numerous lichen-covered tree trunks and branches to cling to, it can adapt to other habitats fairly easily. Should you encounter this species in the wild, don’t worry - despite its somewhat threatening appearance, this spider is not aggressive towards humans as long as it is given its space and not handled directly.
