You can help to protect these famous pink birds by keeping your distance and refraining from driving vehicles in areas where breeding colonies have been established. Keeping the flamingo’s stress levels low helps increase reproductive success, ensuring that more eggs are laid each year. These birds can be found in warm, watery regions on many continents around the globe. If you spot one in the wild, you’re almost guaranteed to see many more, as this species finds safety in numbers, living and feeding in flocks. This strategy helps to protect individual birds from predators while many have their heads down in the mud searching for food.
