Native to southeastern Brazil, the black-spotted casque-headed tree frog calls the rainforest and coastal “restinga” (scrub) home. During the month of December, eggs are laid in the shallow waters of ponds, temporary pools, and small lakes. Once grown, these frogs prefer to spend most of their time tucked safely between the leaves on bromeliad plants. Bromeliads are frequently harvested for horticultural purposes, which has led to the unintentional re-homing of this frog species in areas far outside its original range. I’m guessing a good place is Florida? Lol land of non-native species, I have started to call it.
