Religion is a source of spiritual strength and moral guidance for many of us. As a multi-religious and multi-racial society, we have worked hard to establish social norms of compromise and accommodation, to enable people of different religions to live harmoniously together.

The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) has done good work providing Islamic direction and guidance for Muslims in Singapore’s unique context. MUIS celebrates its golden jubilee this year, and I was happy to join their International Conference and book launch today.

Religion is a deeply personal matter. I am heartened to see many religious groups and leaders reaching out to strengthen interfaith ties and do good beyond their communities. I hope this will endure, and the next generation will continue building a stronger and more united Singapore. – LHL (MCI Photo by Kenji Soon)
