Celebrated the Golden Jubilee of ASEAN-Japan relations with PM @岸田文雄 and fellow @asean Leaders.

ASEAN-Japan cooperation began in 1973 with the establishment of a forum on synthetic rubber. From such humble beginnings, the relationship has grown stronger and wider-ranging. This year, Japan became ASEAN’s newest Comprehensive Strategic Partner.

At the Summit, I spoke about how ASEAN and Japan could collaborate more closely in traditional areas such as trade, investment, and tourism, as well as emerging spheres such as the digital and green economies. Japan also has a constructive role to play in keeping our region peaceful, stable and secure.

We concluded the summit by adopting the Joint Vision Statement on ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation and its Implementation Plan. Look forward to building even closer ties between ASEAN countries and Japan. – LHL
