The world is filled with untold stories of human goodness. Each day there are more smiles, more hugs, more acts of kindness than anything else. It’s true. It really is. Even if you feel lost or surrounded by darkness, there is more light than you realize. Have faith.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t do better. It also doesn’t mean our work is done, not on a personal or societal level. We are all a work in progress and our growth is eternal. To arrive is to be stuck. To remain curious, spontaneous, interested, humble, and kind along the journey of life is perhaps one of the greatest human challenges. I don’t always succeed. In fact, I fail. The signs of when I’m off are when I’m triggered, defensive, too attached to being right, too definite, too sure, blinded by tunnel vision. In spaces where I feel vulnerable, undefended, empathic, and open-hearted, then I feel like I’m headed in the right direction.
