Yoganidrasana. Yogi sleep pose. I’ve never fallen asleep like this, not even on this idyllic Fijian beach. But I will say that there is something so relaxing about feeling the hips open. When you allow the hips to open, there’s a certain freedom that returns to the body. And the mind, the yogi sleep state is a blissful, harmonious thoughtless union with the Eternal Divine. Nothingness. No-thing-ness. Even a few moments spent in deep communion with the sacred space of the inner world can change your life. Happiness is as much about releasing resistance as it is about achieving something. Orient towards goals and things and you’ll always be searching and striving. But orient to the timeless space of the Divine and you’ll find peace and freedom. Every breath is a chance to let the mind settle, to let the thoughts sleep and allow the heart and soul to shine through. Inhalation and exhalation are the winds of spirit, the breath of God that gives life. Practice is prayer, the most private worship, with an audience of one, in intimacy and holy connection with the true light.
