Why did you choose to join Instagram? Answer: There are a lot of reasons for this, but we’re mostly on Instagram because it offers a unique way to tell a story to the right audience. Every prong of an organization’s media plan needs to serve its own purpose, and for Instagram, that purpose is showing off the on-track action that makes our type of racing great, letting the images tell the story. ________________________________________Q: How relevant is Instagram for a brand like yours? What benefits has Instagram brought you? A: For a series whose target demographic is a younger crowd, Instagram is incredibly important. It’s so much more of a visual medium than the rest of our social networks, so it can grab your attention quickly. And that short attention span is really what our sport caters to, with races that are never longer than 10 laps and a lot of beating and banging on the track. It’s also not “pay to play” to get any meaningful interaction… everybody sees every post from everyone they follow. There aren’t too many top social media networks out there right now where you can get that kind of value without making a significant investment. ________________________________________Q: How often do you use Direct Message to contact your fans? Has it helped you? On a weekly basis—with the Tuesday Giveaway posts that we do, we contact the winners to collect addresses. It’s proven a lot more effective and easy to keep track of than doing so elsewhere.
