Day 17 #healinghearts is Kapotasana, one of the hardest and deepest backbends of the Ashtanga Yoga method, a gateway posture that deserves respect. Only by lifting the chest and sternum will you create space deep enough to protect the lower back. Keep the shoulders externally rotating and draw the elbows in. Send the hips forward, relax the flutes and inwardly rotate the hip joints. Be patient. I'm grateful for all the great teachers I've had who have helped pave the way to difficult postures like Kapotasana. Check @beachyogagirl for an easier/modified option.
