Dark Sakai to Sunshine [8B+] ⚔️ I ended my bouldering saga in Switzerland for 2022 with an ascent of this nice resistant rig back in September 🙌🏻 I was originally hoping to climb Dark Matter [8C], but in the end, between the humid-rainy conditions and a lack of pure roof crimping strength, I left Magic Wood nearly empty handed, minus this stellar roof climb in the Darkness cave. It was a wise choice in the long run however because I arrived here in Rodellar, where I am currently trying some super long roof boulders and short resistance routes, in much better shape than I expected 😅 I thought training in the Darkness Cave was a good idea considering the similarities in angle, length and lack of trickery (zero kneebars 😫) and wow, it definitely paid off!! The plan is to open two different 8c boulders in the Ali Baba cave, and attempt to link them into the 8c+ route where all the lines usually finish 🤔 I’m not sure how hard that math equals, I’m not the best at arithmetic, but I’m pretty sure they will be nails, i.e. at least 9b 🤪!! I have the next couple months ahead of me to get back into route shape and tackle the plethora of unfinished projects I have in Catalunya, including routes like La Capella, Furia de Jabali, and First Round First Minute 😅 I plan to keep bouldering the entire time, a new strategy which I feel can really help me rise above whatever plateau’s I struggled with in the past, so I’m also looking forward to checking out Albaracin for the first time and exploring some of the hard stuff in the region that’s been established in the last years that I’ve never seen!!
