Happy New Year everyone 🥳 After a long cold December I finally feel more adapted to the bouldery style of climbing here in Catalunya and feel my finger strength returning after months of roof climbing on jugs 🤣 I was able to make some proper links in La Capella again, which was reassuring after such a long break from trying the route, but as the wind started picking up and temps settled around 1-3 degrees, it got way too cold to make real tries, or even physically be in the cave for that matter 🥶 In hopes of finding something I could try that was complimentery to La Capella, I decided to revisit an old nemisis of mine, First Ley [9A+] over in Margalef. Ten years ago I honestly couldn’t do shit on this rig, yet this time around I surprisingly found some really good beta for myself, despite a key hold being broken. In the past I just didn’t comprehend the frontal style of climbing, and lacked the power in the pinches to even do the hardest moves, so I was super suprised I could quickly do the route with one hang. I was hoping to make a fast ascent, but after a couple weeks of attempts I couldn’t rise above the cold and most of my tries I’d just numb out in the hard pinch section 🙄 I figured out the moves to the last boulder in First Round First Minute [9B] as well which was super exciting, so hopefully it’s all great preparation and training for the full line, a climb I’ve akways aspired to do 💫 Unfortunately it just dumped about 40 cm of snow and Spain under a very white blanket 😳 Everything will be completely soaked for a few weeks, and they have closed the local climbing gym due to new COVID restrictions, which complicates our climbing scene here for the moment 😭😣 Gonna have to make the best of this situation; it’s time to heal the skin, rest the body, train on the hangboard, and find some dry rigs to climb on that survived the storm 🤣😅🙈!! 🔥📷 by @julia.cassou 🙌🏻 @adidasterrex @fiveten_official @petzl_official @climb_up_officiel @frictionlabs @sendclimbing @climbskinspain @tensionclimbing
