After a massive snowstorm sweeped through Spain leaving the entire country under a deep white blanket, it was unclear when and how we could return to our projects, or even the crags 🤯 In all my years climbing in Catalunya I’ve never seen such a sight 😳 There was around 50-70cm of snow, which is unheard of here, so we assumed it would be weeks until we could climb again, let alone reach the crag with our car 😱 With no experience of how things evolve here after such a massive winter storm, I resigned any aspirations I had for my projects in lieu of getting my hopes up 😣 After a few days removing snow, we managed an initial recon. All the routes I was trying were wet, especially in Margalef, but miraculously La Capella was dry, despite the waist deep snow on the approach, and ice looming around the anchor. As it all began to melt the following days, the wet streaks dodged the crux section, and it was dry enough to try, minus the last easy section. It had already been about three weeks since my last session on the route (the freezing temps and high winds just shut me down 🥶 and normally I can survive some pretty cold weather) The first day I just went to check the moves and see if it wasn’t too humid (with the snow melting there was a lot of water pouring down the walls), and low and behold, it felt better then ever 🙌🏻 Nursing a split I had to climb with tape, but during the second session (in this clip) I managed some links which gave me a lot of confidence. The first boulder that used to really fuck with me is feeling very consistent, and the second boulder finally feels “easy” 😅🤔 It’s crazy how we fear regression in projects when taking a forced break, but its always possible to do something to improve your climbing in the meanwhile if you keep the syke high, and stay active on other climbs 🤪 Game on, stoked to get back in the next days to make some proper tries from the start, and with the snow melting, and the entire countryside drying, conditions can only improve from what we’ve just experienced 🤣🤣🤣 @adidasterrex @fiveten_official @petzl_official @climb_up_officiel @frictionlabs @sendclimbing @tensionclimbing @climbskinspain
