For putting the time effort and energy into self love and acceptance of the skin we are in only to be criticised for celebrating body confidence or being called self obsessed. How many people are unhappy with how they look? How many have insecurities and hang ups about things that they would like to change about themselves or imperfections they would rather not have? I think the majority of people would rather turn the lights off at night and keep their clothes on than do cartwheels triumphantly to the bedroom in their birthday suit. Do you know what it feels like to overcome low self esteem, zero self worth and escape years upon years of abuse? Do you know how hard it was for me to get back into shape after having a baby, let alone two? To accept the way that creating life affects every aspect of your body and nothing is as it was before? To lose your identity to a role of mother or wife and not know who you are as a person? Do you know how much courage it took for me to post my very first workout picture several years ago, hot and sweaty with excess skin and flabby bits all over the place whilst I was still breastfeeding my baby but so proud of my progress of working out from home to reduce bodyfat? Please never see my years of healing, courage, hard work and dedication to achieve a better quality of life as a threat or something to criticise me for; self love is not selfish it is wholeheartedly necessary to love and accept yourself as an individual first before you are able to fully love and appreciate another. I want you to see my journey as inspiration and confirmation that you too can achieve whatever you set your mind to.
