Whilst my parents put me in long frilly dresses and shiny shoes all of the time I was never really a “pink kind of person”. I guess I didn’t think it was my style or that I could carry it off because I was always more sporty and dark with my clothes rather than feminine, light and bright - I didn’t feel like I belonged to that side of the colour spectrum and the Mean Girl stereotypes. But it put the biggest smile on my face to wear such a vibrant and uplifting colour that o found myself hooked. I remember my first pair of dazzling shoes that came soon after in a gorgeous cherry red colour with a sexy 6” heel, the first time I painted my bathroom a stunning shade of hot orange so that I could bathe in sunsets and the first time I got a colour tattoo of a pair of hot red lips on the inside of my thigh. Colours set my world alight and allowed me to be more myself. The moral of this story? Most of the things that we come across in life we feel “aren’t for us” that everybody can do it far better and enjoy it but we wouldn’t be able to because we’re not good enough or simply don’t belong - let me tell you those thoughts are absolute trash!! Do whatever makes YOU happy, period! If you want to rock hot pink cycle shorts to the supermarket then good for YOU! Purple hair? That’s hotttt! Tight jeans? Work it baby! Life is too short to concern yourself with how others will judge you because of all that is superficial or simply surface material. If you want to give people something to look at then live YOUR best life and always be true to yourself; maybe just maybe you’ll inspire others to be less judgemental do the same.
