Happiness is your natural state. Remember it, choose it every chance you can. And yet, you contain multitudes, the complete spectrum of emotions. Sadness, grief, anger, anxiety are yours too. To deny them would be to deny yourself, to shrink the glory and grandeur that is you.

Like yin and yang, sadness is joy, happiness is rage, and, when seen from the whole, there is no separation, no need to hide or bury one. All emotions are expressions of the vastness of your inner being. All emotions are valid. And yet, while they may seem to appear like the wind, bestowed upon you from without, the truth is that you play a part in setting the climate of your world. While certainly there are situations beyond your control, on an average day you hold the power to choose happiness.

Feel a ray of sunshine on your skin, smile and celebrate it.
Smell the fragrance of flowers in bloom, pause to let it wash over you.
Hear a pleasant rhythm, allow it to move your soul.
Taste the sweetness of ripe fruit on your tongue, savor each morsel.
See the beauty of life all around you, let your heart overflow with love.
