Yoga says to feel everything but what if what you feel is rage? Then what? It can feel scary to let the crouching tiger within out. But repression doesn’t work. The tiger then prowls around inside, tightening with rejection only to pounce with unexpected force. But acting out anger is also often harmful to everyone involved. While it can feel cathartic to let it all our, vent, huff and puff, the more you practice an emotion the easier it is for your mind to experience it. Sometimes if you do act in anger there is shake and guilt that follows, remorse and self-judgement for the actions taken in the heat of the moment. No matter how justified your anger is, the reality of the fact is that we are the only ones who are responsible for processing our own emotions. When someone else is angry, it’s tempting to jump in and try and diffuse their bomb. But that creates co-dependency and deprived the person who is angry or the right to process and feel their own emotions. _ Anger is as valid as joy and bliss. Destructive actions are not. Feel it all. No emotion lasts forever. If you’re in throws or discomfort the teaching is simple. Return to your breath and body. Don’t repress or suppress. Just with it. Like waiting out a storm. Sooner or later the sky clears up, the rain stops and if you’ve lucky there’s even a rainbow. _ Every emotion can be a powerful teacher, but only if we truly understand how to work with, process and be present with all our sensations. _ Day 7 #ashtangabasicschallenge is Marichasana C.
