Have you ever heard of the Orange-bellied Parrot (Neophema chrysogaster)? It’s an endangered bird that can be spotted in Tasmania and Australia. It’s also one of the few parrot species, out of more than 350, that migrates. Breeding season takes place in Tasmania, and then the bird crosses the Bass Strait to spend winter in southeast Australia. It prefers salt marsh habitats, where it forages for plants and seeds. Males and females have green plumage with blue markings, but males tend to be brighter in color, with more distinct patches of orange and yellow.
