Is this your mood? Meet the Cape rain frog (Breviceps gibbosus). This peculiar-looking critter is native to South Africa, where it inhabits shrublands, farms, and even some urban areas. It spends most of its time burrowed underground looking for worms or small insects to snack on—and helping to aerate soil. When threatened by a predator, such as a lizard or snake, it can inflate its body to make itself appear larger and intimidate foes.
