slowly making this house our home. I can't believe I'm standing in our kitchen with a floor and walls and all - it's not always been the case. a year ago we started our renovations on the city cottage- a huge part of which has revolved around the kitchen -(I can't wait to share some before and afters soon) - stripping out years to bring things back to the simple unadorned 1900s house we knew was there under all those layers of other people's lives - looking to carve out a place among them for our life - excited to be a part of this houses history
and a year later I can't really say that anything is finished but we are getting close now to completing the kitchen - and it's feeling more and more like a home, our home rather than just a project -
It's a funny thing, that feeling of home. I've been thinking quite a bit about it recently - for years my ideas of home have been more about people than place and while this is still true - this little house, the farm, this corner of new england- they are very good at helping me feel connected to this place- rooted and contented for the moment to be so -
