taking full advantage of the many old lilac trees at the farm - taking in big cuttings to the house filling vases and jars and little pots on windowsills - each of the three colors slight different in scent - the very dark purple is my favorite - with its heavy nearly too sweet smell - and they seem to smell even more heavenly the closer to expiring they get - happily enjoying the season as much as our wonky little old well house
Wishing i could preserve them past their very short season - perhaps making a lilac salt or sugar or syrup for summer cocktails or those dark winter months
