It's rare for me to post no-make-up pics and at least not have a huge smile to hide behind. But here I am. Just me. No make-up. No big smile. White wall. Nothing fancy. Truthfully, I’m self-conscious about having no make-up on in public. I’d rather go for glam than natural, which yeah, I know as a yogi that might sound strange. From the time I was a little girl I have loved make-up. I remember being a toddler and playing with my Mom’s lipstick. I can lose track of time trying out a new eye shadow or contouring technique. To be honest, part of what my love of make-up is about stems from the really bad acne that when hit me when puberty ushered in a hormonal hurricane. I had such bad acne that it was like a mask and I hid behind it. I remember the first time I got my make-up professionally done and all those acne scars and zits seemed to disappear under the magic of concealer—I was amazed at the image I saw in the mirror and I felt beautiful for the first time my life. The acne went away for a few years while I took the birth control pill, but when I started yoga and went off the pill, it came back with a vengeance. It took years for my body to find balance again and for my skin to to clear up. I’m sensitive about my skin, and my skin is sensitive. I love massages but I always ban massage therapists from touching my face with oily hands. I even try to avoid touching my face throughout the day (which is a good tip for anyone with acne-prone skin). But this is me, this is my skin, imperfections and all. And I can finally say that I love what I see. ? . #practiceyogachangeyourworld #onebreathatatime ?
