The new shala had just opened and either Guruji or Sharath would do my backbends every day. My hair was growing out from being shaved totally off and it was unruly, curly and dark. Practice was hot and sweaty and I stayed in India for nearly six months on my second trip to study with my teachers. Hard to believe the time has passed, hard to believe it's been nearly 17 years since I first stepped onto the Ashtanga path. Thank you Guruji, thank you Sharath. One definition of a guru is a person whose presence imparts truth to a statement spoken by anyone else would be untrue. Guruji, because you told me to be stronger, I am stronger now, because you said to do this practice every day for many years and peace is coming, I never gave up, because you believed in me I was finally able to believe in myself. Thank you Guruju, thank you Sharath.
